About Child Spirit Consignment
Next Sale: Oct. 3-6, 2013
Berkeley County Youth Fairgrounds: Commercial Building
2419 Golf Course Road, Martinsburg, WV
Child Spirit Consignment hosted its first seasonal consignment sale in September 2008. We are dedicated to the idea that a large space set up for shoppers over a 3-4 day period provides great selection and good prices on high-quality, gently-used children and maternity items. At our first sale in 2008, we had 16 active consignors and 2800 items. We continue to grow with each sale with our November 2011 sale having 80 active consignors and 14,200 items. It is exciting to think what the sales of 2013 will look like!
Child Spirit Consignment was created by Michele Grove until recently, was a resident of Martinsburg, WV. After working with Mona Tisler of Classy Kids Consignment in Manassas, Virginia, she decided that a consignment fair would be a wonderful opportunity in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Michele’s roots are from Morgan County and even though she grew up in Maryland, she has always found her way back to the panhandle. She is married to a wonderful man, Andy Townsend and they have a magical 6-year old daughter named Helena.
In June 2011, Michele, Helena and Andy moved to Sisseton, South Dakota where Andy is working with the Indian Health Service. Michele still works with Child Spirit Consignment and will be in the Eastern Panhandle for upcoming sales. She looks forward to this time to visit with all the amazing people who are a part of this program. Between sales, Michele will run the program from her office in Sisseton, SD. Child Spirit is fortunate to have a great staff in Martinsburg who will keep the “in between sale operations” running smoothly.
It is important to note the success of Child Spirit Consignment comes from the dedication of the whole family. After Andy works long hours doing dental work with the Indian Health Service, he still has energy to work with me at Child Spirit Consignment. I do not think I have ever met anyone who worked so hard and gave so much. I am truly the luckiest woman on the face of the earth!
Child Spirit Consignment is more than a business. It was created to be an investment in families of the Eastern Panhandle. Times are tough for a lot of people. This program will help families make some money as consignors and shop for good clothing, furniture and toys at affordable prices. In this current world, this is needed! ….Besides…. there are some amazing children’s products out there that have barely been used. Why not give these great items a new home? Michele, Andy and the committed Child Spirit Consignment Team have held eight sales in the Eastern Panhandle. Consignors are making extra money, shoppers are receiving good bargains, and the selection of clothing, toys and items is growing.
I wish to give a special thank you to Mona Tisler of Classy Kids Consignment which holds sales in Northern Virginia. Mona has shared her time, her wisdom and even the design of her movable clothing racks. Her operation lives up to the name – she truely runs a Classy operation and I am grateful to have had such a teacher.
I am also grateful to the support of the consignors, volunteers and shoppers of the Eastern Panhandle. There is a “buzz” in the air about Child Spirit Consignment and it is due to the dedication of all of you. Thank you for your support. I am looking forward to seeing you in October.
